You will love Copper Mountain Ski Resort for its close proximity to Denver (compared with other ski resorts in Colorado) and the I-70 interstate (about 0.2 miles – you can see it from the road)! Copper sits almost 10,000 ft above sea level making it one of the higher resorts in Colorado – take note of this is altitude sickness is an issue for you. Copper is part of the Icon Ski Pass which we purchased for the 2020/2021 ski season.
We met up with friends from Minnesota over Christmas break for three days of skiing. Being with friends definitely was the highlight of this trip! Adding to that was Copper’s great apres scene at the base of the mountain – definitely one of the best among the ski resorts! The weather was cold but the fire, drinks, and conversation warmed the soul.
We stayed at an Airbnb in Frisco, a super cute town, around 10 miles east of Copper on I-70. There is a bus system running from Frisco to Copper but we chose to drive to the resort and park in the free Alpine lot each day.
Day 1: Christmas Break
- Drove from Denver to Copper in the morning
- Parked at the free Alpine lot and headed out for an afternoon of skiing
- Happy hour + dinner with our friends at their Airbnb
- My first game of Catan
Day 2: Christmas Break
- Day of skiing
- Apres at Ten Mile Tavern in village base
- Happy hour + dinner with another couple at their condo in downtown Frisco
Day 3: New Year’s Eve Day
- Morning of skiing
- Headed back to Denver
We will definitely be back to Frisco when the weather is warmer and the pandemic is over (or restrictions have lessened).
