On Two Wheels

[Road Ride] Genesee Mountain, Kerr Gulch, and Red Rocks

There is a lot of love about this cycling route…and some things not to love about it.

Love: the 2 mile climb and descent on Genesee Mountain, seeing Buffalo, the descent into Kerr Gulch, and the climb up Red Rocks

Not-Love: the mess of getting around the Evergreen exit + trying to avoid riding on busy Hwy 72 and the scary descent from Kittridge to Morrison with tons of traffic going 50 – 60 mph on a two-lane road

Honestly, the two not-love items are the reason we’ve only done this route once. I do want to go back and climb up Kerr Gulch so I can take more photos and videos of this area but I’ll probably drive to the base, climb up, and descend down as the roads in and out of here in Evergreen are scary with the high volume of traffic and small roads.

Good to Know

Fun Facts: If you time it right, plan to stop in downtown Morrison for a snack or coffee along this route. I wasn’t able to but the area was super cute and I definitely want to go back!
