[Hike] Royal Arch at Chautauqua Park

Every trip to Boulder should include a hike to Royal Arch at Chautauqua Park. It is super popular and for good reasons – the arch itself is super cool, the trail is a good challenge, and it is close to downtown Boulder and the University of Colorado campus.

We met up with a friend on an early Sunday morning to do this hike. We arrived just after 7am and most of the parking spots were already taken – take note! The hike starts out gradual in the open space and gains tree coverage as we hiked into the forest. As you get closer to the arch, the rocks to climb over get bigger and the space to hike gets smaller. Once you reach the arch, you can maneuver around to catch different views and photos. It is super cool!

Good to Know

Fun Facts: If you’re not up for this much elevation gain, there are several other trails you can take from the park. There is something for everyone!
