Matthews / Winter Park is a beautiful place to hike close to Denver, Colorado and even closer to Golden, Colorado. The park has 11.9 miles of trails for you to explore. The highlight of the park is its close proximity to Red Rocks, giving you a constant view of the beautiful scenery (I never get tired of it). Add in a blue bird winter day and it cannot be beat! The trail system is an open space with very little shade so bring a hat + sunscreen depending on the conditions.
Unlike a lot of other trails in this area, this one does NOT start with a steep incline making it great for all levels. Further down the trail, you can choose to take a black diamond (most difficult) or continue on a more-level trail. Because I love a circle + more exploration, I chose both!
