[Road Ride] Boulder Canyon

Boulder is the cycling mecca of the country with several pro cyclists and pro triathletes living and training in this area. Within minutes of downtown, you can be climbing through the canyons – either on a road or gravel bike.

One of the iconic rides is up Boulder Canyon from Boulder to Nederland. We parked at Eben G. Fine Park with a direct route to Boulder Canyon Drive. The grade is mild for the first five miles – consider this your warm up! Once you pass Boulder Falls, the grade kicks up a notch for the next two miles before returning to the mild climb. Just outside of Nederland, you ride past the Barker Meadow Reservoir with a couple pull out if you want to stop for a photo opportunity.

After 15 miles, you’ll cruise downhill in the small village of Nederland. There’s a couple cafes and pizzeria + tab house to refuel before heading back to Boulder. We stopped at the New Moon Bakery and Cafe to split a cinnamon roll. Yum!
