Red Lodge Montana Travel Guide

Red Lodge is a small mountain town in southern Montana. It is a gateway community to Yellowstone National Park from Billings Montana. It is close enough to the Wyoming border that you will most likely enter in and out during a day trip!

My college girlfriend (randomly matched freshman roommate) recently built a home in Red Lodge Montana and we could not wait to visit and made it our next girls trip destination. We enjoy new adventures, good food + drink, and be together – this trip delivered on that and more.

If you are looking for a girls trip destination that is off the beaten path, check out Red Lodge Montana!

Don’t forget to check out the trip essentials list at the bottom of this post as well!

Here’s what we did on our Red Lodge GIrls Trip –

Day One – Horseback Riding + Hiking

Day Two – Iconic Drive on Beartooth Pass

Day Three – Morning Hike + Red Lodge Shopping

Trip Essentials List

  • Owala FreeSip Sway – Stainless Steel – I ALWAYS bring a reusable water bottle on all trips – it ensures I stay (or try to) hydrated!
  • Samsonite Freeform Hardside Carry-On Luggage with Spinner Wheels – I don’t check luggage (unless it is skis) and this is the perfect size for a long weekend away!
  • North Face Mini Backpack – the place to go everything that doesn’t fit into my carry-on
  • “Fancy” Garmin Watch – Style + performance is my jam. It looks pretty while providing stats!
  • The Perfect Selfie Stick – a must have for taking group photos…especially hiking when you are in the middle of nowhere with no one else around to take a photo!
  • Essential “all-in-one” charger – this is a newer purchase for me. Initially I didn’t think I needed it but I LOVE having this separate + travel specific charger.
  • Goodr – another example of style + performance. They look good, perform well, and come in so many styles and coolers. I have 5 pairs!
  • Nuun Hydration Tablets – this goes with the water bottle above and provides essential electrolytes when I am out of my normal routine.
