[Ski] Lake Louise

Lake Louise Ski Resort is located within Banff National Park and an easy 45 minute drive from Banff, Canada and 2 hours from Calgary International Airport (YYC). Most out-of-town visitors stay in Banff (several shuttles), Canmore, or the small village of Lake Louise.

It is the biggest ski resort in the Canadian Rockies with 164 marked runs, 4,275 skiable acres, and a 3,250ft vertical drop.

With the absence of a large residential village surrounding the resort, the beautiful log cabin shines bright at the resort entrance – so cool!

We had the pleasure of skiing at Lake Louise two (2) bitterly cold, consecutive days in mid-February.  Because of the cold weather, the lifts within the resort had a delayed opening. We took this stride and used the time to drink hot chocolate and activate our hand and toe warmers which is essential in the temperatures.

During day one (1), we skied the beautiful corduroy around the Juniper and Glacier Express. The bluebird day helped keep the cold at bay! We spent the afternoon skiing around the Grizzly Express Gondola…until our goggles iced up and we could no longer ski 🙁

Special shoutout to our nephew Cam, as we were sure to ski down his run, Cameron’s Way!

During day two (2), we headed to the “backside” and skied more corduroy on Pika as we waited for the Larch Express to open. We were some of the first people to take the Larch Express which meant we had untapped skiing on the Larch run (we did it more than once). It was one of my favorite skiing experiences to date and one I won’t soon forget!

We loved our days at Lake Louise Ski Resort and it was definitely our favorite ski resort within Banff National Park!
