Full disclosure here: you need AllTrails to find your way up and down the cliffs to the North Table Mountain Loop Trail. Google Maps doesn’t cut it; pay the small annual fee for AllTrails Pro!
The view of the cliffs is one of my favorites in the Front Range! I think it is stunning, especially in contrast with the perfect blue skies! The cliffs are known for their rock climbing and I saw several climbers out during my hike. After reaching the base of the climbing area, the trail is harder to detect as it is a bunch of rocks. Eventually I reached a small clearing at the top of the “table” and walked over to the North Table Mountain Loop Trail.
I made a small detour to hike up the Lichen Peak Trail which leads you to the highest point on North Table Mountain. As with all peaks, be prepared to climb up rocks with windy conditions!
I continued clockwise around the “table” and enjoyed finally hiking the whole trail! The terrain varies throughout the loop which keeps things interesting! I missed the “turn” back to the cliffs and ended up hiking around the rocks more than planned [insert the need for AllTrails]. If I did it again, I’d park at the main North Table Mountain Trailhead off of Hwy 93 and hike counterclockwise around the “table”. This trailhead connects directly with the trail so there isn’t any “extra” hiking to the loop as there is with the other trailheads.
