Most large cities don’t have a state park within ten miles of its downtown so Denver is lucky to have Cherry Creek State Park so accessible to its local residents! The focal point is the Cherry Creek Reservoir with its large beach and marina. Behind the reservoir is the dam which is massive and the backdrop of the entire park. You can drive to the park and explore from there by bike or ride up (down) along the Cherry Creek Trail. There is a paved path or dedicated bike lane around the park making it easy to bike to the beach, marina, or another of the picnic areas.
