[Hike] Panorama Point

There are nearly 35 miles of hiking trails across 11 trails throughout Golden Gate Canyon State Park making a trail for everyone! I would recommend making your way to Panorama Point and hiking along the Raccoon Trail which surrounds it. There is a platform area to view the mountain ranges in the distance – it is quite the sight to see! Take some time to soak it in and enjoy! The Raccoon Trail takes you around the top left-hand corner of the park on a mostly shaded trail. This trail is great for families and hiking with older parents as we were. We could have spent a lot more time in the park hiking other trails – I would recommend setting aside a day to drive, hike and explore other areas of the park.

There was a $9.00 daily vehicle fee to enter the park.

Good to Know

Distance: 2.6 mile loop

Elevation Gain: ~500ft

Terrain: Mostly wide dirt trail with some rocky sections

Parking: Panorama Point Trailhead

Facilities: Available at Panorama Point Trailhead

Fun Facts: The adventure starts on the drive along Golden Gate Canyon Road once to exit from 93. The road quickly elevates and takes you on several switchbacks until you reach the park! If you are meeting others, I would suggest parking in the small dirt lot located on Golden Gate Canyon Road right after turning off 93.
