[Weekend Getaway] Frisco, Colorado

“You visit for the winters and stay for the summers” is a common saying about Colorado mountain towns and I couldn’t agree more! We spent a couple days in Frisco over Christmas Break but didn’t spend any time in the town as we skied all day and spent time in friends’ homes in the evenings.

We spent the 4th of July holiday weekend in Frisco with our main event being biking the Copper Triangle – a big training day for the Triple Bypass and a legendary climbing route in Colorado!

We fell in love with a quaint mountain town during this weekend! Main Street is so fun with a good mix of bars, restaurants and shops. They closed several blocks from traffic during the summer of 2020 due to the pandemic and continued it for 2021. I love this concept that several main streets are doing throughout the country!

The Dillon Reservoir is also a main attraction when visiting Frisco. You can relax on the beach, rent a kayak, or bike around part or the entire reservoir. Pro tip is to visit Sapphire Point Overlook for an awesome view of the water and mountains in the background – my favorite combination!

Here is what we did during our weekend getaway in Frisco, Colorado!

Day 1: Friday, July 2nd

  • Drove to Frisco mid-afternoon. This was our first time getting stuck in major weekend mountain traffic. It was a good reminder to try and leave town EARLY if at all possible!
  • Evening on Main Street Frisco! Pizza at Greco’s Pastaria to fuel up for our big ride the next day. We strolled down main street stopping into a few shops along the way.

Day 2: Saturday, July 3rd

  • Copper Triangle! We had a rough start to our day when we found a flat tire on a bike five minutes before heading out. After waiting an hour for Rebel Sports to open, we lucked out when they had a mechanic available and he was able to fix it fairly quickly. Two hours later, we headed out! • Burgers for takeout at Ten Mile Tavern and enjoyed live music at Copper Resort

Day 3: Happy 4th of July!

  • We biked on Tenmile Path from Copper to Frisco and around part of the Dillon Reservoir. After our big event the day before and goal to keep it under 25 miles, it was hard not to bike more! I’m always looking to discover more!
  • Enjoyed live music outside at Copper Mountain once again to celebrate the holiday in the afternoon
  • Happy Hour + Dinner on Main Street Frisco

Day 4: Monday, July 5th

  • Knowing traffic would be horrible later on in the day, we headed home early in the morning. We didn’t get a chance to touch on all of the hiking in this area. We will save it for next time!
