If you are looking to get out of Denver and looking for a new destination to explore, Golden, Colorado is the place for you! The main street, Washington Avenue, is lined with shops and restaurants as well as a few gems (Bonfire Burritos, The Golden Mill, Golden City Brewery, and Mountain Toad Brewery) that aren’t on main street yet still within walking distance to downtown Golden. In addition to the buzz on main street, they have the Golden History Museum and Park nearby, which is a quaint park with cool old buildings to check out. I cannot tell you the amount of family, senior, and engagement photo shoots I saw in this place – endless background opportunities!
After riding through Golden many times on our bikes, I knew I wanted to spend more time exploring this city. My favorite part is the Clear Creek which runs perpendicular to main street giving it an intimate feel of nature mixed with an urban vibe. There is a path running next to the creek as well for you to explore. We’ve been to both breweries mentioned above plus Barrel and Bottles Brewery and dined out at Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza, The Golden Mill, and Tributary Food Hall & Market. Bonus, we completed all of our Christmas shopping for 9 nieces and nephews easily here as well!
