{Full Review} Itinerary
Day 1: Thursday, 10/10
- {Arrive} PHX @ 7:30am – bags, car, road trip to Sedona!
- This was my 2nd trip to Sedona and I was again in awe as I traveled up I-17 from PHX. Once again, the red rocks that make up the region did not disappoint and were just as magical as I remember! You slowly climb up to 4,500 ft as you enter Sedona and beauty surrounds you!
- {Hike} Courthouse Butte Loop Trail
- We were ready to get after it and parked at the Courthouse Butte trailhead to start our first hike in Sedona. We chose Courthouse because it was one of the first trails we encountered, positive reviews, and an easy trail to get started with. We didn’t sit together on the plane so this was our first opportunity to be together and catch up which we successfully did for 2 hours! Laughter was definitely the word of the hike as we were surrounded by mother’s nature wonder.
- {Lunch} The Hudson
- Outdoor dining with a view was a must and The Hudson was the perfect spot. We started with an appetizer inside while we waited for our table outside and each enjoyed a delicious salad overlooking the city.
- {Groceries} Safeway
- We stayed at an Airbnb so we stocked up on groceries for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner we planned to make at the house that evening.
- {Dinner} Airbnb
- The fifth and final member of our group arrived around dinner time and we caught her up to speed on our day and enjoyed a relaxing dinner + evening catching up.
Day 2: Friday, 10/11
- {Hike} Boynton Canyon Trail
- We set out early for Boynton Cannon in the northwest part of Sedona. We chose Boynton Canyon Trail for its longer duration, difference part of Sedona and positive reviews. The hike is a combination of open trail with views all around and sheltered cannon trail. It was a relatively flat trail until the last 15 minutes when you climb at the end of the trail on the side of the rock. We admired the view over a packed lunch. The walk back was filled with an intense question and answer session amongst five friends. We later learned the cannon is a vortex and I definitely feel as though something special took place on that walk back.
- {Smoothie Stop} Local Juicery
- After 6.1 miles on the trail and the hot sun, a stop at the Local Juicery was just what we needed. We planned out our next stop in the shade enjoying our smoothies. I think everyone can agree that planning (or not planning) a trip can be difficult. Building on that, planning a trip with others can add complexity to that… no matter how great your relationships are. All this to say, we had a rough agenda yet had some open holes. After throwing out some ideas, we decided to visit vineyards for the remainder of the afternoon (something we originally planned for the following day).
- {Vineyards} Oak Creek Vineyards & Page Springs Cellars in the Verde Valley
- The Verde Valley below Sedona is filled with vineyards and wineries. Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery is the first one you come across traveling on North Page Springs Road. We chose five wines from the tasting menu and headed outside to the patio to sample and enjoy the scenery.
- After oak creek, we continued down North Page Springs Road and stopped at Page Creek Cellars. After initially being denied a table, we walked up and found a spot at the bar where Colton walked us through their tasting menu. We made a quick stop outside on their patio for pictures and headed back to the Airbnb.
- {Dinner} J.Wine Bistro
- We made dinner reservations at J.Wine Bistro just down the street from our house in the Village of Oak Creek. Their appetizers were definitely the best part of the meal as we didn’t love our drinks or main dishes. Therefore, I would not recommend J.Wine Bistro.
Day 3: Saturday, 10/12
- {Pit stop} Chapel of the Holy Cross
- We only had about 15 minutes yet made a quick stop with VIP parking when the chapel opened. We walked around and snapped a few photos and were off to our spa appointments!
- {Massage} Nami Salon
- Every girls trip needs a spa visit! We each booked a 60 minute session to focus on an area of much needed TLC. We all had positive experiences – we only wished we had booked after our hike!
- {Hike} Devil’s Bridge
- One of the most popular trails in Sedona is the hike to Devil’s Bridge. The first part of the trail titers between a flattish road and mid-to-large boulders to walk around. Eventually we hit the trail to end up towards Devil’s bridge.
- {Smoothie Stop} Local Juicery
- Our second stop at the Local Juicery as it is perfectly located at the end of Dry Creek Road before you exit onto 89A. We all tried a different smoothie and refueled after a hot day on the trail.
- {Shopping} Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village
- Poor Cid was the loner shopper in the group and we didn’t do much shopping on this trip. We swung through the Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village which is a super cute shopping district. This is a great shop if shopping is a must for your trip!
- {Jeep Tour} Pink Jeep Tour
- Jeep tours are everywhere in Sedona and you cannot miss the pink ones! Literally, the founder’s marketing idea worked on us! During our reassessment of our itinerary at the Local Juicery on Friday, we decided to book a Pink Jeep Tour for Saturday. We booked the 90 minute Scenic Rim Tour on the rocky Schnebly Hill Road and had a jeep to ourselves…with our awesome driver, Colton. Our tour headed to the northeastern area of Sedona – an area we hadn’t explored – so it was the ideal area to cover. After three days of hiking, we are happy to to riding in a vehicle instead of the miles on our feet!
- {Dinner} Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante
- After a quick change, we were dining at Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante for our final dinner of the trip and celebrating Steph’s birthday. We had a lovely dinner and talked about how great this trip has been. We concluded our night with a bottle of bubbly and cheered to 20 years of friendship!
Is Sedona on your list? Or have you been already? I’d love to hear from you!
