If you’ve driven on 470 on the western side of the Denver suburbs, you’ve seen the lone road that goes up and into the foothills, and, if you’re like me, have thought – “where does that road go?”
After almost 3 years in Colorado, I finally decided to find out, and did so on two wheels! As I do for most of my rides, I left from my home in Sterling Ranch and warmed up during the spin through Chatfield State Park. The ride along the C-470 West Trail heats up the system with its gradual steady climb. I love covering new ground and finally did so after crossing Morrison Road (County Road 8) and headed north until I reached Alameda Parkway.
Here’s where the fun really started! This route takes you up the lone mountain-side road past the Dinosaur Ridge Park and multiple exploration stops to the top where you should stop to take in the 360 degree views all around you! So cool! Enjoy the past spin down the other side before cruising in Red Rocks Park before entering Morrison and taking the same path back to the start.
