If you are looking for an easy hike with lots of sun in the Arvada or Golden, Colorado area, I suggest you check out Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge. Disclaimer: I did not see any wildlife as the name implies!
This area is located in northwest Arvada with awesome views on the flatirons to the west. There is a dedicated parking lot buried in a suburban neighborhood right next to the trail for easy access on the southside of the park.
I visited a sunny, winter morning in January and hiked along the Women’s Creek Trail with a small hill before leveling out for the remainder of the trail. I connected with the Rocky Mountain Greenway Trail and headed back to my vehicle making a complete loop!

Good to Know
Distance: 8 mile loop
Trails: Women’s Creek > Rocky Mountain Greenway
Elevation Gain: ~600 ft
Terrain: Snow-packed trail during the winter with some muddy trails on sun-exposed sections
Parking: Available at Refuge + Lower Trailhead
Facilities: Available at Refuge Trailhead
Fun Fact: Due to the intense sun mixed with the melting snow, it was VERY muddy at different spots along the trail!
