Waterton Canyon and Chatfield State Park are two of the most popular outdoor spots in the Denver Metro area. Put them together and they make for a great outdoor adventure!
We’ve been up Waterton Canyon many times and decided to take a new route out home through Chatfield State Park. The map doesn’t show the deep sand pockets and gnarly rocky spots along the Platte River Trail so we were in for a 2.5 mile surprise on our journey! Plus a carry-the-bike river crossing next to two horseback riders! Crazy!
