The High Line Canal Trail is a 71 mile trail system running diagonal from Aurora on the northeast side of Denver to Littleton on the southwest side of Denver. At 71 miles, it is boasted as being one of the longest continuous trails in the country. What a treat for Colorado!
We rode the trail for the first time over Thanksgiving weekend after some snow (and warming) making for some slick and then muddy spots. The nice part of riding on a trail is being away from traffic so we could cautiously ride about the path when it was challenging. We only covered about 12.5 miles of the trail (we did an out and back) so there is so much more to explore! I can’t wait for our next ride along the High Line Canal Trail!

Distance: 26 miles out and back from Littleton to deKoevend Park in Greenwood Village.
Elevation Gain: ~525ft
Terrain: Most of the section we rode on was packed gravel with small sections of a paved path
Parking: Small parking area at Spring Gulch. I recommend parking close to where you live.
Facilities: N/A
Fun Facts: There are a lot of road crossings along the trail – I would recommend preparing for a casual ride – it is hard to gain a lot of continuous speed and momentum.
