Warning! This route was much more of a mountain bike ride than a traditional “gravel” ride on this section of the trail! After trying out the first three miles on foot, I was excited to continue the exploration on a bike.
We parked at Proghorn Park in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, which easily intersects with the trail making it a great starting point. Unknown to us, the wide gravel trail in the first few miles gave way to a narrow, dirt single track with several zig-zags and a decent amount and elevation changes. We had no idea what we were in for on this ride!
The “reward” on this ride is the view at the Debus Highlands Point where you can see for miles and miles – literally! They have markers out to several landmarks including the Colorado State Capitol, Pikes Peak and Devils Head Peak to name a few!
You can make this a longer ride by continuing down the trail yet we called it a day and turned around and rode back towards our vehicle!
Definitely add this to your list!
