The Mount Falcon Castle Trail Loop is located within Mount Falcon Park in Morrison, Colorado. It is a popular hiking area in the Denver Metro due to its close proximity to the metro and the amount of trails + scenery within.
I was attracted to this hike because of the unique landmarks it contains – a mansion and a “president’s summer house” – two things you don’t find on many hiking trails! The mansion was built atop Mount Falcon Park in 1911 and tragically burned down in 1918 due to a lightning strike. All that remain are its rocky ruins. I found the ruins to be a tragically beautiful site to envision what once was.
Upon another short trail detour was the envisioned “president’s summer house” where land was donated for this reason although never realized. Again, a unique opportunity to see the dreams and visions of one Colorado family. So cool!
