Bear Creek Trail is a popular outdoor destination between Evergreen and Morrison along Colorado Highway 72. The Bear Creek Trail runs 7 miles and is an out-and-back trail. The highlight or “goal” spot is Inspiration Point with awesome views all around!
I hiked Bear Creek Trail on a busy, summer Friday morning and learned a few key lessons.
- Lesson 1: There are A LOT of mountain bikes on this trail
- Lesson 2: I’m a completist but 7 miles one way was a little too long to do so and missed that feeling at the end
- Lesson 3: Park “closer” at Lair o’ the Bear Park and focus on the HIKE ONLY trails weaving throughout the area
Good to Know
Distance: 8.6 miles out-and-back
Trails: Bear Creek Trail and Inspiration Point Trail
Elevation Gain: 1,900 feet
Terrain: Dirt, gravel, + rocky single-track
Parking: Available at Corwina Park Trailhead
Facilities: Available at Corwina Park Trailhead
Fun Fact: There is a small parking lot with a direct path straight up to Inspiration Point yet the lot fills up quickly…even on a weekday morning! I attempted to park there and drove past Corwina to do so…only to turn around and park back at Corwina. Save the time and annoyance and stop at Corwina!
