Lost Lake is a great hike with the added benefit of camping and picnic tables available when you get to the lake! If you want to hike further, there are several other trails to extend your day. Happy hiking!
I did my Autumn hiking backwards and should have started at the highest elevation [9,000 ft] and worked my way down! By the time I hiked Lost Lake in Nederland most of the trail was covered in several inches of snow! Lucky for me, the trail was heavily packed and okay to traverse in my Altra Lone Peak trail running shoes. I attempted to hike to Woodland Lake but the snow was almost a foot deep and I had to turn around and head back to the trailhead.
