If you are thinking about going to Breckenridge, go! If you are planning a weekend getaway in the mountains, go to Breckenridge! This historic town has been on our list and we visited for our anniversary weekend during “shoulder” season. Breckenridge Ski Resort is not included on the Ikon Ski Pass so this was our first visit to this charming mountain town. It didn’t disappoint!
My favorite part of Breckenridge is its charming downtown filled with several shops, bars and restaurants and its close proximity to the ski report. Even though we visited during shoulder season, the atmosphere was still lively and most bars and restaurants were open. We liked it so much that we’ll definitely be back next spring or early summer to do more hiking and biking!
For now, here is what we did on our weekend getaway to Breckenridge!
Saturday, October 30
- Arrived at our Airbnb for 4pm check-in. We stayed just south of downtown off Broken Lance Road. Little did we know that we had a path to town [or the chairlift] outside our door. This came in very handy as we walked to town each night.
- Explored downtown Breckenridge and did a little Christmas shopping
- Dinner at Empire Burger
Sunday, October 31
- Gravel Bike Ride up Boreas Pass [stopping at the watertower]
- [Stroll] Tour de Historic Buildings around Breck
- Fabulous Pizza [because every Sunday is pizza night] at Tin Plate
- Vikings Game viewing at Ollie’s Pub
Monday, November 1 – Anniversary!
- Snow Day! Late Fall hike turned into a Winter Hike at Mohawk Lake
- Lovely Anniversary Dinner at Blue River Bistro – cheers to 7 years!
Tuesday, November 2
- Walked through Breckenridge Ski Resort as snow continued to fall!
- Headed back to Denver as the Anniversary Trip came to an end
