[Run] Bear Creek Lake Park
Bear Creek Lake Park is a great place to explore in Lakewood, Colorado. The park has several trails available for all to enjoy. Most of the trails are pretty flat with the exception of a sharp climb to the top of Mount Carbon. I would HIGHLY recommend making the climb because the top gives you an amazing view of Bear Lake below. And, as an added bonus, the lake trail makes a loop – something I always look for!
I parked at the Morrison Park-and-Ride lot at the intersection of Bear Creek Avenue and C-470 to save on the park entrance fee which is required to enter the park. The C-470 Bikepath goes under the highway making it easy to enter the park on a safe, protected trail.
As mentioned above, there are several trails within the park yet they aren’t well marked. I kept having to check the map on my phone for the first half of my run to make sure I was on the trail I wanted to be on which was annoying while running! Luckily the second half of the run was better and easier to navigate (less trail options) but something to keep in mind at this park!

Friendly Reminder: Another way to explore this area is on your bike via the C-470 Bike Path. I’ll definitely do that in the future! For my fellow triathletes, there is a swimming beach here!
