Fullersburg Woods is a delight buried inside the Chicago suburb, Oak Brook! The Woods are a great place to find shade and crushed gravel which is a welcome sight being surrounded by pavement and sun. The main loop, Night Heron, is 90% flat but does have a few small hills on the west side for a bit of a challenge.
I visited Fullersburg Woods on a warm, sunny morning so I could not wait to get to the shade within the Preserve! I passed several runners, walkers and fishermen taking advantage of the neat space. I only had a chance to do the Night Heron trail but I would like to check out the other trails on a future visit.
