Mount Galbraith is a popular hike in Golden, Colorado just 20 minutes west of Denver. It is located on Golden Gate Canyon Road before the state park. Although the trailhead does have a parking lot, it is small and fills quickly. Be ready to park on the side of the road, south of the trailhead and walk back to the start. Come prepared to hike in complete sunshine with little to no shade along the trail.
We hiked Mount Galbraith on our very first hike in Colorado on a hot, sunny weekday morning. Not too long into the hike, we encountered a small group ahead of us stopped around a small bush covering the trail. We found out that there was a rattlesnake near the bush and everyone was trying to decide to continue on or turn around. We carefully continued on yet it was a good, early reminder that snakes are present and to keep a watchful eye out at all times.
